Self-Representation Course

The Self-Representation Course is a whānau-community focused initiative. The course consists of a series of modules delivered online. The course designed to assist self-represented separated whānau in the Family Court  to learn and develop fundamental and advanced skills and strategies of resolving their Parental Disputes in the Family Court. How to initiate and respond to applications and manage their cases using a pragmatic child-focused litigation strategy. 

This extensive course is designed for parents who want to represent themselves in the Family court. Also, it is useful for parents who are already represented by a lawyer to help them gain knowledge on how the Family court operates and how to instruct their lawyers effectively through their court case progress.

Modules: This course consists of 5 Modules each 1-2 hours delivered weekly over 4 week period. The first and last module cover the general court processes and apply to all proceedings under the family court, so it is recommended that all registrants attend these 2 modules. Completing this course does not necessarily mean you will be able to represent yourself in the Family Court or win your case or put your case adequately before the court. Attendees might need to seek a legal advice or get some guidance and support from us.
