We are always looking for volunteers who are passionate about our mission and helping  families who are going through relationship breakdowns and who have had dealings with the family court.

FDSS always looking for volunteers with positive energy, flexibility, great people skills, and an enthusiasm for life-long learning.

Our volunteers are usually supervised and receive guidance and help from our Senior McKenzie friends and coaches in regards to any court proceedings guidance.  If you feel that you are able to contribute and help in other ways or for any further enquiries, please email us at admin@fdss.org.nz

McKenzie friend

A McKenzie friend or Court Lay Assistant is someone who attends court in support of a party that does not have legal representation and able to help them with through their court case and can attend any court events with them. They are usually independent and some charge some fees.

General Support Person

General Support Persons provide support and help for people who simply needs someone to talk to about their relationship breakdowns issues or family court matters in general over the phone or online or in person.

Court Support Person

Court Support Persons usually accompany any family court users and attend with them hearings or any court events as required. They usually sit at the back of the court room and be there to help and support them morally and emotionally., if needed.
