“Why Kids need a voice – not a choice” workshop and Q&A is intended to provide whānau with information about the children’s perspective of Family separation.
This workshop is intended to:
- Suggest ways that parents can tell children they are going to separate
- Give parents information about supporting their children to discuss their views without feeling they are caught in a loyalty bind.
- Explore key ways that parents and other whānau can initiate these conversations.
- Examine the positive impact of an aligned parental approach in talking to children
- Discuss the differences between the ‘in court’ and the ‘out of court’ processes available for children to express their views and feelings.
- Understand how the transition of separation can affect different family members
